Canada is introducing 25-percent tariffs on certain cars imported from the USA as a countermeasure against the American President Donald Trump's 25-percent tariffs that came into effect on Thursday.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced "25-percent tariffs on all vehicles imported from the USA that are not compatible with CUSMA", which refers to a free trade agreement between the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
The number of vehicles affected by the Canadian tariffs is unclear, but Carney calls the retaliation "focused and calibrated".
