On Monday, Social Democrats leader Magdalena Andersson gave up her first attempt to form a new government. At the time, the Left Party had announced that it intended to vote for the moderate Andreas Norlén in the Speaker's election, and Andersson saw no chance of succeeding in the task.
Several party leaders believe that it is now Ulf Kristersson's (M) turn to try. But he points out that it is up to the Speaker.

"I am always ready. I said on election night that if there are conditions for some kind of non-socialist government constellation, then I am ready. But it is the Speaker who must decide whether there seem to be conditions for that matter," says Kristersson in connection with the opening of the Riksdag.
Putting pressure
On Wednesday, a new Speaker's round awaits all party leaders, and then Norlén will give a new exploratory mission to one of them.
My message to the Speaker tomorrow will be that I think he should ensure that Magdalena Andersson is tried in the Riksdag as soon as possible, says SD leader Jimmie Åkesson.
These deadlocks that exist are obvious and then the Speaker has the opportunity to put pressure on the parties to either move or not move. But as long as you keep handing out exploratory missions for several weeks at a time, nothing will happen.
Jimmie Åkesson also says that he is not afraid of a snap election.
On the contrary, I think it would be very good. Especially in a situation like this where it has become clear that there was no alternative government on the other side, it was just a bluff. But there is a clear alternative government on our side and then we will have a chance to try it one more time, he says.
Gave up too easily
The Left Party's Nooshi Dadgostar thinks that Magdalena Andersson gave up on attempts to form a government too easily.
I think so, she says.
She is also not particularly impressed with how far the S leader got in the exploratory process.
She has had many days and has not managed to move the process forward, is my assessment, says Dadgostar.
Basically, she sees the Center Party as the cause of the Red-Greens' problems forming a new government.
The core issue is that C cannot choose which majority they can be part of, she says.
