Busch meets with Swedish media ahead of an EU meeting in Brussels and comments on the altercation between EU parliamentarian Alice Teodorescu Måwe and an official from The Left Party.
It's a completely unacceptable situation, says Busch.
The versions of what happened diverge. However, according to The Left Party, Alice Teodorescu Måwe physically attacked one of the party's officials inside the parliament on Wednesday morning. The employee allegedly got scratches on their arm.
According to several media outlets, the altercation is about the view on Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza.
The Left Party's secretary Marie Antman does not want to confirm this. She says that the employee came into her office afterwards and was in a state of shock.
It was a sudden attack, but I don't want to go into all the details. This is a completely non-political event, says Antman.
The Christian Democrats deny
The Christian Democrats deny the allegations, saying that it was Måwe who was attacked by the official, who allegedly photographed the Christian Democrat politician.
The Left Party has filed a police report against Måwe, and the Christian Democrat politician will file a counter-report when she returns. She left Brussels to travel to Stockholm on Wednesday evening.
She's feeling very badly and is shocked, says the Christian Democrats' secretary Natalie Tegelberg.
The incident was captured by surveillance cameras and is being investigated by the Belgian police, in parallel with an investigation by the parliament's security department.
Ebba Busch has not seen the footage that allegedly shows the sequence of events but backs her party colleague.
I landed in Brussels yesterday and have spoken directly with people who have seen the footage. Spokespeople from the EU parliament are very clear that the footage supports Alice Teodorescu Måwe's account.
She says that hate and threats against politicians are a major issue for her.
Alice Teodorescu Måwe is scared, and no one should have to be scared in society, but even less so in their workplace where one should be guaranteed safety.
"Leadership problem"
The Christian Democrats and The Left Party have contact at different levels.
It's obvious that The Left Party has a pervasive leadership problem where they can't keep clean from activism, says Busch.
The Moderate Party's EU parliamentarian Tomas Tobé writes in a post on X that The Left Party must act immediately.
"We have seen open anti-Semitism in The Left Party in recent times and yesterday's event goes in the same direction."
