At an impromptu press conference in the middle of Visby, Ebba Busch kicks off Almedalen Week and takes as a starting point the recent opinion figures, which show a difficult situation for the Tidö parties.

The election victory is in danger for the blue-yellow team. We need to put in an extra gear, says Busch.

But I think it could be a record-breaking blue-yellow comeback.

Prioritize welfare

Her recipe is to focus on the finances of ordinary families, a functioning welfare system, less bureaucracy and a "struggle of values".

I think the focus needs to be on making welfare work. It's a combination of prioritizing it in kronor and ören and of reforms to make education, healthcare and childcare work better.

KD is going to the election on the basis that "the overall tax burden should not increase" while low-income earners should benefit more than high-income earners. This means that KD will not say outright yes to a new earned income tax credit with reduced taxes for everyone who works.

It is not high-income earners who will primarily benefit from an economic policy that we are involved in negotiating, says Busch.

The next four years are not the heavy tax-cut years.

“Harmful for Sweden”

She also believes that voters want political leaders who have visions and can take discussions across party lines. When asked if this should be seen as a criticism of Ulf Kristersson (M), Busch replies that she fully supports him as prime minister and is instead highlighting herself.

Someone has to help move the voters from the other side of the block boundary.

Busch also warns against the Social Democrats' Magdalena Andersson, saying that, according to the KD leader, Andersson would need to negotiate with V and MP.

Magdalena Andersson is not my candidate for prime minister for the simple reason that she is proposing policies that will be harmful to Sweden.
