"The Jumper", valued at 700,000 kronor, is one of the municipality's three public artworks by the artist. The sculpture consists of a man in a trench coat and hat, hanging at the end of a long arch. Only the arch remains of the work, which stood outside a sports hall.
The man is believed to have been sawed off to get to the metal. Thus, the theft is now an insurance case, as the work is likely to be melted down.
It's a fairly small work, so the bronze value is very low in relation to the art value, says museum chief Johan Dahlén at the cultural administration to the newspaper.
We have very small hopes of getting it back. But it does happen, so you never know, he continues.
The artwork exists only in one copy and was made during the 1980s by Reuterswärd, who is best known for the bronze sculpture "Non-violence" where the barrel of a revolver is tied in a knot.
