Marketa Vondrousova defends herself after the suspension.
"I have never doped. Throughout my career, I have taken countless doping tests and have always gone onto the court with a clear conscience," she says.
It was in December last year that Marketa Vondrousova did not let a doping controller in during an unannounced test. The Czech player said she suffered from mental illness and became frightened when the controller did not properly identify herself.
But the tennis body that fights corruption and doping, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), still decided to suspend her for four years.
Vondrousova made history in 2023 when she became the first unseeded player on the women's side to win Wimbledon.
