Australia is introducing a ban on overpricing in grocery stores this summer.

"It's about giving families a fairer chance when they shop each week," the country's Finance Minister Jim Chalmers and Deputy Minister for Competition, Andrew Leigh, wrote in a joint statement.

Overpricing should be assessed based on the grocery chains' delivery costs plus a reasonable margin. For chain stores that violate the law, large fines of up to 10 million Australian dollars, equivalent to over 60 million SEK, can be imposed.
