The internet provider Bahnhof must provide information about the individuals behind certain IP addresses to the Police Authority, the Court of Appeal in Stockholm rules.
The police had requested information from Bahnhof within the framework of their criminal investigative activities, but since the internet provider did not agree to it, the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) decided to instruct the company to do so under penalty.
PTS's decision was appealed by Bahnhof, but the appeal is now rejected by the Court of Appeal.
"The instruction does not, as Bahnhof has claimed, violate Swedish law or EU law", says Peder Liljeqvist, Court of Appeal judge, in a press release.
