"This is ridiculous and a sign that this place is not for me", writes Banks in a post on X accompanied by a screenshot from Wikipedia about the Swedish law on the so-called dance permit.
"I'm on Södermalm and looking out onto the street... Damn, I wonder if they ever play loud music here like in New York or if they have block parties, but this is just crazy", writes Banks further.
The paragraph, which according to the Public Order Act forced restaurateurs and nightclubs to obtain a dance permit in advance, was abolished in 2023. But it didn't become completely free to let loose and dance. The law was replaced by a notification requirement, which means that guests are allowed to dance, but only as long as the organizer reports to the police that dancing may occur.
The 33-year-old Banks, whose biggest hit "212" has over 300 million plays on Spotify, confirmed in an interview with Sveriges Radio P3 in March that she had moved to Sweden and that she plans to learn Swedish.
"Stockholm ... wtf (internet slang for roughly what the hell)", writes the rap star in another post with a picture of a dryer in a laundry room.
"I've never seen this in my entire life", says the star in an attached SMS conversation.
