For Axel Klint, a golf student at Celciusskolan in Uppsala who lives on Lidingö, outside Stockholm, the golf trip to the city of Al Ain was supposed to last a week. But when the war between the US, Israel and Iran broke out on Saturday, air traffic was suspended for security reasons, and the group, two coaches and twelve young people from Lidingö Golf Club, were stranded in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

We play golf, go to the gym and study during the day now that we can't go home. Luckily we've been able to stay at the same hotel, says Axel Klint when TT reaches him by phone on the bus home from the golf course outside Al Ain.

The group has seen military aircraft in the sky, but has not heard any Iranian missiles or drones. Klint says he is worried about being affected by the war.

In the middle of the night last Sunday we received three different flight alerts telling us to take shelter. We were very scared before we realized the warning did not apply where we were, says Axel Klint.

The tour operator has announced that the earliest they can travel home is Wednesday morning.

"My studies are affected because I'm missing a lot of classes and exams. I thought I'd contact my classmates to ask if they could send photos of the books we need to read for school so we can study remotely. You miss a lot, especially if we were stuck here for a month," he says.
