The number of registered A-tractors has risen from under 40,000 in 2021 to almost 70,000 in 2026, according to statistics from the Swedish Transport Agency.

By far the most are found in the municipality of Sundsvall: a total of 1,302 vehicles. In second place is Örnsköldsvik (927), followed by Umeå (880).

"From 2021 to today, the number of A-tractors has increased by 79 percent and the trend looks the same throughout the country. Fortunately, accidents are not increasing to the same extent, which indicates that safety-enhancing regulatory changes linked to the vehicle type have had a positive effect," says Mikael Andersson, press manager at the Swedish Transport Agency, in a press release.

For mopeds, the list is topped by Kungsbacka (584), followed by Gävle (553) and Gothenburg (524).
