The leading Asian stock exchanges began Wednesday's trading to a large extent upwards after the US and China agreed on a framework for how customs policy will be handled.
In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 had risen by 0.5 percent at lunchtime, while the broader Topix index fluctuated around zero.
From Hong Kong, upbeat tones were heard when the Hang Seng increased by 0.7 percent.
It was also upbeat at the composite indexes in Shanghai and Shenzhen, which increased by 0.4 and 0.5 percent, respectively.
Positive news was also heard from South Korea, where the Kospi index grew by 0.7 percent.
