The leading Asian stock exchanges started Tuesday in good spirits and thus reversed the bleak trend of the recent trading days in a situation where investors are waiting for Donald Trump's promised tariff announcements.
In Tokyo, the important Nikkei 225 index and the broader Topix index had risen by 0.6 percent each by lunchtime.
It was also cheerful at Hong Kong's Hang Seng index, which climbed 1 percent.
The same pattern could be seen in the composite indices in Shanghai and Shenzhen, which increased by 0.5 and 0.8 percent, respectively.
