The initial Friday trading in Asia is going poorly, with broad declines across the indexes. Among other things, the pharmaceutical sector is falling after new tariff announcements from the USA.

The President of the USA, Donald Trump, announced during the night towards Friday that the country will introduce 100-percent tariffs on medicines – with certain exceptions – starting October 1.

The pharmaceutical sector in Asia was apparently not entirely pleased with the message. Several larger pharmaceutical companies were traded downwards during the morning. Among other things, Japanese Daiichi Sankyo falls by approximately 3.3 percent. Nikkei 225 as a whole backs down by approximately 0.3 percent at lunchtime.

South Korean Kospi backs down at the same time by 2.4 percent.

Neither is the stock market mood at the top in China. Shenzhen falls by 0.8 percent, while Shanghai's composite index backs down by 0.2 percent. Hong Kong-based Hang Seng backs down by 0.8 percent.
