There will be no Tony Gustavsson on the sidelines for the women's national team in their World Cup qualifying match against Italy. The federation's appeal has been rejected, reports Aftonbladet.

It was after the loss to France in the Nations League that Sweden's head coach received a red card following the final whistle. Gustavsson was upset that the French players were messing around during extra time and complained to the referees after the match.

The expulsion resulted in a one-match suspension.

The Swedish Football Association appealed the suspension, but it has now been rejected.

It is what it is. I am the coach I am and will continue to be the coach I am. In this case, unfortunately, it resulted in me having to sit in the stands for a match, and I have to take it, Gustavsson tells Aftonbladet .

What I want to be clear about is that I did not use any foul words.

It was Gustavsson's second expulsion in his coaching career.

Gustavsson, 52, will be able to watch the opening World Cup qualifying match away to Italy on March 3 from the stands.
