We should look more closely at the strong connection to Sweden and how we can strengthen it, says party leader Magdalena Andersson.
The government and the SD's measure for the debated deportations of teenagers means, in short, that the age limit for a residence permit based on family ties will be raised from 18 to 21. Even those who have already received a deportation decision will be able to apply again.
But that is not enough, according to the Social Democrats.
The problem is being postponed for three years. People who would have been deported at 18 are being deported at 21 instead, says Magdalena Andersson.
I see this as a panic measure that risks postponing the problem.
Instead, she points out that connection is about how integrated a person is in Swedish society, whether they speak Swedish, were educated in the country and work.
We are happy to deport serious criminals. But we say no to deporting people who have done everything right, who are part of our society, who are our schoolmates, coworkers and neighbors.
