A several thousand years old limestone painting has been stolen from a grave site just outside of Cairo.
The painting was stolen from a mastaba, an ancient Egyptian tomb, in Sakkara south of the Giza pyramids. The grave, which was discovered in the late 1950s, dates back to the period 2,700–2,200 before our calendar.
The limestone painting depicts Khentika, a wealthy governor. The theft is puzzling because the grave has not been opened since 2019.
