It has been an intense period for 19-year-old Alvar Myhlback. After a tough training camp, he came to the roller skiing days in Trollhättan and won Saturday's Alliance race over 48 kilometers. A race with a mass start, which he decided in the sprint.
On Sunday's 15-kilometer race, with individual start, he never gave the competitors any chance and won with 22 seconds ahead of Norwegian Eirik Mysen and 54 seconds ahead of Swede Truls Gisselman.
Afterwards, Alvar Myhlback was tired, when he commented on the race in TV4:
It was terrible, actually. If you have driven so many calm hours, you should do this. It was tough. You have to push yourself all the time. I have skied fast here before, so I know what is needed if you are going to win. You cannot allow yourself a single calm moment.
On the question of what this was for a form indication before the season, Myhlback answers ironically:
I am in premature form. It's probably over. I usually come into form before Vasaloppet. That's the most important thing.
Ribom – double winner
Emma Ribom also took a double victory in connection with the roller skiing days in Trollhättan.
On Friday, she won the sprint race and on Sunday she topped the 15-kilometer race with 59 seconds ahead of Finnish Kati Roivas.
I have had to work hard for every meter. It was fun to compete. I really had to fight for this towards the end. Maybe I opened up too much for my own good, says Emma Ribom to TV4 and continues:
I have known that I have had good training form towards the end, but it's also nice that it feels good in a competition context.
