The four classified documents that Landerholm forgot at the Gällöfsta course center in 2023 were found by cleaning staff, according to Dagens Nyheter's sources, and thus the secret information can be considered compromised.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) received questions about Landerholm at the Folk and Defense National Conference in Sälen. One question concerns whether Kristersson believes Landerholm is still suitable for the assignment.
Had it not been suitable, he would not have been the security advisor, Kristersson replies.
No reason to question
He says that the incidents have been reported "as they should" to the Government Offices' security department and investigated there. Kristersson has no reason to question their conclusions, he says.
Kristersson is also asked about whether his assessment is influenced by the fact that he and Landerholm have been good friends for a long time. According to Kristersson, it is "very well-known" that they were youth friends in politics, and he emphasizes that he was also questioned by the Constitutional Committee last year regarding the matter.
No, it doesn't affect it at all. I haven't been involved in any of this at all.
I received information afterwards about what had happened and what conclusions they had drawn from it. I would never turn a blind eye to something like that, regardless of what history we have in common.
"Intensive work period"
DN has previously also revealed that Landerholm forgot a mobile phone at the Hungarian Embassy overnight in late 2022 and that a notebook was left behind after an interview on Sveriges Radio in January 2023.
DN has spoken to Landerholm in Sälen, and according to the newspaper, his standard response is that "the information is classified, like other circumstances surrounding this incident". He says, however, that he reacted with dismay when the documents were found.
It's clear that I've learned from this. It was during an intensive work period. It's no excuse, but it was right at the beginning of my tenure as national security advisor, he says.
"Alarming pattern"
Social Democratic Party leader Magdalena Andersson says that a long series of incidents "forms an alarming pattern". She assumes that the Prime Minister will get to the bottom of any suspicions of special treatment of Landerholm.
Given that Landerholm was employed without a proper procedure, not even a note in the reception, and that he is a childhood friend of Ulf Kristersson, it is naturally in the Prime Minister's interest to clearly dispel all such doubts, she says during the national conference.
The Social Democrats requested on Friday that Kristersson come to the Riksdag's Defense Committee to answer questions about Landerholm.
