The album "The Revenge of Alice Cooper" will be released on July 25 and will be the first album where the horror rocker is reunited with guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway, and drummer Neil Smith since 1974. Original guitarist Glen Buxton passed away in 1997, 49 years old.
Alice Cooper explains that he wanted to return to the rawer sound he had at the beginning of his career.
And if we were going to make an "original-Alice album", I wanted it to sound like the original band with a rawer and darker sound.
Alice Cooper took his stage name from the group with the same name he was the front figure for, which released seven albums between 1969 and 1973, with "School's Out" as their biggest hit. But the group went their separate ways in 1974.
It wasn't a divorce, more of a separation. There was no ill will, no sour faces – not for a long time, at least, says Alice Cooper to Billboard.
The plans for the new album have existed for several years and the recordings have been ongoing since 2022. But the reunion does not mean that the entire group will tour together. Alice Cooper is doing a large European tour this summer, but without any Swedish concert dates.
We haven't gotten that far yet, but I can't see it happening that we would do a whole tour. I think it would be very, very difficult since we haven't done it for so long. But maybe on some single gig, he says.
