Jimmie Åkesson is on a bus tour to Gävle and Falun, and thinks that most of the election campaign feels "fantastically good".
The only thing we don't have with us is public opinion, but now things are starting to happen there too, little by little, he says.
In the latest polls, the Tidö parties appear to be narrowing the gap with the opposition.
It gives us a kind of momentum anyway - that we are heading in the right direction, that we are on the way to catching up with this lead.
The SD leader emphasizes that things looked tough for a long time even in the last election.
It looked dark well into election night and then it swung. So if there's one thing I've learned, it's that you should never give up.
“Who takes who”
However, SD as an individual party is below its election result from 2022 in the combined opinion poll. Åkesson believes that some voters decide late, but also points out that SD's issues have not been at the center of this election campaign.
There has been a lot of focus on the game. It's a lot about emotions and who takes who.
The SD leader himself has caused headlines on this topic. First he gave the Liberals an “end date”, then he accused KD leader Ebba Busch of “flirting with the left”. There was talk of cracks and quarrels in the blue-yellow collaboration.
But on Wednesday, all the Tidö leaders stood together at a press conference about new measures against the gangs.
"I don't know if we've had that much of a fight, to be honest. It's more that we have slightly different views on what strategy is good for the whole team," says Åkesson.
But he is still not satisfied with Ebba Busch's answer. She has said that she would consider supporting S leader Magdalena Andersson as prime minister in a crisis, war or an exceptional situation.
I still don't know what an exceptional situation is, says Åkesson.
But yes, I trust that Ebba Busch is loyal to our team, that all four of us are working for election victory. I have never really doubted that.
Eleven SD ministers
In the event of an election victory, the SD leader has been clear that he wants a proportional number of ministerial posts.
If we have 24 ministers and we are supposed to have 40 percent of that, then it's probably around eleven, I think.
However, he may consider exchanging ministerial posts for substantive policies that are particularly important for the SD.
The most important election promise he wants to push through in government is cheaper dental care for all adults, a reform he believes can be implemented fairly quickly.
When we sit down and negotiate the budget after the election, it will go there.
He says he is prepared for the SD not to receive as much support as in 2022.
We have been in power for four years. My starting point from the beginning was that it would mean we would take a beating from it.
In that case, it would be the first parliamentary election since Jimmie Åkesson became party leader that SD does not grow.

Is 47 years old and grew up in Sölvesborg in Blekinge, where he still lives with his family.
Joined the SD in 1995.
Became chairman of the SD's youth association in 2000.
Five years later he was elected party leader of the SD and has now led the party for over 20 years.
The SD entered parliament in 2010 and received 5.7 percent of the vote.
In the last election, in 2022, SD received 20.5 percent and took the step into a government partnership for the first time.
