Airbus has been busy dealing with software problems in around 6,000 A320 aircraft this weekend – the largest recall in the aircraft manufacturer's history.
As of Monday, fewer than 100 aircraft remain that need to be overhauled before they can be used again, according to a press release from Airbus.
At the same time, the Reuters news agency reports that there are quality problems with the A320 model, Airbus's best-selling aircraft by far.
The software problems, which have mostly been fixed, disrupted the aircraft's control systems. According to Airbus, the problems were related to damage caused by intense solar storms.
Airbus announced the problems on Friday, following an incident with an A320 aircraft used by US airline Jetblue on October 30.
The plane was en route from Cancun, Mexico, to Newark, New Jersey, when the computers suddenly shut down and the plane began to dive. No one was seriously injured in the incident and the plane was able to make an emergency landing in Tampa, Florida.
