Men who hit should face society's collective opposition, says S leader Magdalena Andersson.
S launched four proposals to combat men's violence against women at a press conference, a package they chose to name after the suspected perpetrator who is being investigated for the murder of a woman in Rönninge last Christmas.
Taken together, these measures could become a “lex X” (named for the suspect), says Teresa Carvalho, S’s legal policy spokesperson.
"Area arrest" is a type of geographical no-contact zone, which, instead of restricting the victim's freedom, is intended to restrict the violent man's freedom to a certain location.
S also wants men who have committed sexual or violent crimes against women to be monitored for a longer period after conditional release, at least four years instead of the current two.
In addition, men who seek help for dangerous sexual behavior will receive interventions immediately. The 26-year-old suspect in Rönninge is said to have sought help in connection with a previous prison sentence, but it took over a year for a first treatment meeting.
S also believes that the bill on secure detention, which could result in the indefinite imprisonment of dangerous repeat offenders, should be “fast-tracked.” The government has already announced that it will be introduced in April.
