The research group from Aarhus University recently found that the population of wolves in Denmark amounts to 42 animals. Since they began studying the animals in 2012, 20 animals have "died of unknown cause" or "died without being found".
When the figure is so high, one cannot help but think that something systematic is happening – that a group has been established that deliberately kills wolves, says Bo Håkansson, biologist at the Danish Nature Conservation Association, to Danish TV2.
Researchers at Aarhus University wondered in 2021 where the missing wolves had gone and concluded that "illegal killing" was the most likely cause. Then, 14 wolves were missing, and now it has increased to 20. However, due to a weakened data foundation, the researchers can no longer draw secure conclusions.
Ole Pedersen, chairman of the Wolf Time Association, is, however, certain about the reason.
They are being shot. It's that simple.
