Skellefteå museum is in the main building at Nordanå. Its subject is the people, history and development of Skellefteå, Norsjö and Malå. The permanent exhibition Storsia follows the region from the Ice Age to today through images, objects and environments. Children can explore local history through play and discovery in Barnsia, a play-and-learning space. Temporary exhibitions run throughout the year. The museum also preserves and documents regional history, including technology and industry.
Nordanå extends the visit beyond the galleries: the area has historic buildings, a playground and activities in both summer and winter. The museum’s site lists outdoor historic structures, including Östra stolpboden, built in 1726 and described as Nordanå’s oldest building, as well as buildings connected with farming and local life. Some of the outdoor buildings are marked as always open, so they can be visited separately from the indoor exhibitions.
The museum says opening hours can differ on public holidays. Its website does not state a regular opening schedule or admission price in the information available here.
