Marma Church was built between 1925 and 1927 on the initiative of church governor Frans Tivell. Archbishop Nathan Söderblom inaugurated it. It reopened on 1 December 2013 after renovation.
The building is made of lime sandstone tile produced in Skutskär. It is white and simply decorated, with a red-brown ceiling. Its design has been compared with a Mediterranean villa. The windows are described as different, and the ceiling is singled out as a reason to visit. Professor Einar Forseth painted the altarpiece, which depicts modern people meeting the resurrected Jesus Christ at the Lake of Genesis.
Voluntary contributions and local volunteer work funded the church. Tivell and forest guard C G Johansson in Marma invested in the project in 1910. Ahlgrens in Gävle also sponsored it. The church arranges several concerts during the summer.
