The church, also called “the bride by the Dalälven river,” was built in the late Middle Ages and inaugurated in 1490 by Archbishop Jakob Ulvsson. It stands on a height near the river. Inside, visitors can see well-preserved arches and ceiling paintings, along with an altar cabinet from 1490 with the Madonna at its centre.
The parish grew in the early 18th century, and the church was expanded. The preserved arches and paintings, together with the altar cabinet, are the main features to see inside. Visitors can book a guided tour. The church also arranges several concerts during the summer, making the warmer season a time when visitors may find a concert as well as the church’s historic interior. The description identifies summer concerts but does not give dates for them.
