Billudden is a nature reserve where the Uppsala ridge extends into the sea. Its trails pass through greenery and along pebble beaches. The first three kilometres from the car park are on a narrow gravel road leading to Billhamn, an old fishing village. From there, the 1.8-kilometre Vattenstigen trail follows the shore to Billskaten, Uppland’s northernmost point, and back. [1]
Children can explore Klyxenstigen, a nature trail on the headland. Along the route, look for sea buckthorn bushes, which have orange berries in autumn. Red limestone on the beach contains fossils of extinct octopuses and trilobites. A stone square on the return route is evidence of land uplift, which the Visit Sweden entry puts at about 70 centimetres in 100 years. [1]
Billudden is a nature reserve with special rules. Do not take stones or flowers home. Keep dogs on a leash, do not bring motor vehicles, and make fires or barbecue only at designated fireplaces. The entry describes no admission price or seasonal opening dates. [1]
