Konstakademien is the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, an independent organization founded in 1735. It promotes fine arts through grants and exhibitions, and its main exhibition hall is at Fredsgatan 12. Visitors come for exhibitions and for programme activities held in the building. The academy describes its activity as spanning a broad cultural field, with exhibitions and programme events ongoing. Its website has separate sections for current exhibitions and programme activities, so check those listings for what is on during your Stockholm dates.
The academy also describes collaborative projects, alongside its exhibition and event programme. Its role is not limited to putting on shows: it supports fine arts through grants as well. The venue’s own site presents the house as a place for exhibitions and cultural programme activity, rather than a single permanent attraction.
