Kungsträdgården’s ice rink is closed for the season as of 2 November 2026, according to Stockholm’s city website, which says visitors are welcome back next winter. The rink usually operates from November to March, and the city usually opens it in week 44 if weather conditions allow it to make the ice. Visit Stockholm describes it as free and open to all in winter, weather permitting; the city says skating is free if you bring your own skates.
When it is operating, visitors skate on artificially frozen ice in the heart of Stockholm. One hour of skate hire costs 100 SEK for adults (about $10.0/£7.90) and 50 SEK for children and young people up to age 19 (about $5.00/£3.95). Hire hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00–20:00, and weekends, 10:00–20:00; the rink closes at 21:00. Skate sharpening costs 150 SEK (about $15.0/£11.9), and a padlock costs 45 SEK (about $4.50/£3.56).
Children must wear helmets, which are available to borrow. Skating is at your own risk, hockey sticks are not allowed, and only city staff may remain on the ice during resurfacing. Events sometimes take place on the rink; the park’s website lists them.
Good to know
Children must wear helmets; helmets are available to borrow. Skate hire is available during the listed rental hours.
