The Sunshine Olympics tells the story of the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm through an interactive exhibition at Riksidrottsmuseum. Visitors can try several events, including a dive from a 10-metre platform, pistol shooting with the Carlberg twins and timing the 100-metre final.
The exhibition recreates the festive atmosphere of that summer and takes Stockholm Stadium as its architectural model. It also looks at what visitors from near and far could do in Stockholm in 1912, what they wore and how they entertained themselves. Families, school classes and tourists are among its intended audiences.
The 1912 Games were the only summer Olympics held in Sweden. The museum says they had a major impact on Swedish sport, Stockholm, Sweden and the Olympic movement. Thirteen heroes from the Games are presented through sculptures by Lehna Edwall and film portraits by Jens Lind.
