Shul! tells the story of the synagogue that once stood at the site of the Jewish Museum in Stockholm’s Old Town, and of the people who made it a centre of Jewish life. For nearly a century, from 1795 to 1870, Jews of Stockholm gathered there to take part in community life and sought guidance and support from the rabbi. It was a centre of Jewish life in the city and across the country. The exhibition follows the people who prayed, lived and worked there, and presents them as pioneers of Jewish life in Sweden. Visitors can encounter their story at the place where it unfolded.
