Drömlandet traces how Sweden changed from a poor agrarian country into a global technology nation. The exhibition is open now and runs through 31 December. It follows seven periods, from 1809 to the present, and brings together more than 100 objects and installations in the museum’s Machine Hall.

Visitors can see Sweden’s oldest preserved steam engine, a Saab Gripen aircraft above a shelter, and the server associated with Pirate Bay. A large Electrolux vacuum cleaner has been turned into a slide. An audiovisual work pairs archive images from Swedish history with music composed by Christian Gabel. The displays connect industrial growth and new technology to changes in welfare, democracy, work and everyday life. They also examine the costs of progress, including environmental problems, economic inequality and digital polarisation. The exhibition offers visitors a way to understand how technology and ideas about a better society helped shape modern Sweden.

In Wisdome Stockholm, space scientist Stas Barabash and journalist Marcus Pettersson take us on a visual journey exploring Apophis, ESA’s Ramses mission and the question of how humanity could defend Earth from a future asteroid impact.
