Bellmanhuset is at Urvädersgränd 3 on Södermalm. Carl Michael Bellman moved into two attic rooms in 1770 and lived there during some of his most productive years. The house says he wrote most of Fredman's Epistles there. His two rooms remain, restored and furnished in period style. The building was completed in 1764 and is one of the few surviving examples of an ordinary 18th-century Stockholm home, according to the house. Stockholm City Museum designated it a building monument in 1969.

A guide shows visitors the house and talks about 18th-century Stockholm, Bellman's life and career, the building's history and the Par Bricole society, which owns the house. A troubadour performs some of Bellman's songs during the tour. The public tour costs SEK 150 per person, about US$15, and takes around 90 minutes. The website lists tours at 13:00 on 1 November, 15 November and 6 December 2026. It says public tours are held on the first Sunday of each month throughout the year, with extra dates in some months.

Groups can arrange a separate visit for up to 40 people. These tours include a guide and troubadour, can last from 45 minutes to 90 minutes, and cost SEK 150 per person, about US$15, with a SEK 3,000 minimum, about US$300. The house says the minimum covers 20 people. To get there, take the metro to Slussen, use the Hökens gata exit, walk down Götgatan and climb the steps to Urvädersgränd.

Good to know

The website says no advance booking is needed for the public tour listed for 1 November. For a group visit, contact the house to arrange a booking. From Slussen metro station, use the Hökens gata exit, walk down Götgatan and take the steps up to Urvädersgränd.
