Dance for Wellbeing for Relatives offers gentle movement for body and mind, with simple exercises done seated on a chair. The sessions focus on being together, presence and the enjoyment of movement.
The programme is designed for people with different health challenges and is based on Dance for Parkinson’s. The organiser says the method is suited to neurological and cognitive conditions, including Parkinson’s and dementia, as well as other psychological or physical difficulties. It says the activity can help train balance and coordination, release feel-good hormones and reduce stress, making it suitable for relatives too.
Dancer Helena Lambert leads the sessions. She is trained in Dance Health and Dance for Parkinson’s and has experience with participant-led methods and collaborative creation. The activity is free, with refreshments provided, and advance booking is required. The remaining listed session is on 20 November in Norrtälje, in cooperation with ABF and Folkuniversitetet.
