Nyköping Castle’s white King’s Tower, Kungstornet, contains three exhibitions about the castle and life across several centuries. On the second floor, “Prisoners and Correctional Inmates” covers Nyköping Castle in the 19th century. The third-floor exhibition “Chess and Power” looks at people, life and death in the 14th century, including the Nyköping Banquet. On the fourth floor, “The Prince” is about Duke Karl, his castle, his people and his power more than 400 years ago.

Admission is 80 kronor (about $7.80) for adults; children up to and including 18 enter free. The ticket is valid that day at both Kungstornet and Sörmlands Museum’s main museum building. Free admission dates still to come in 2026 are 28 and 29 November, during the Christmas market, and 31 December, for the New Year’s walk. The listed regular opening is Sundays, 10am–4pm. Guided tours for children and adults are free with an admission ticket, but places are limited; sign up at the tower reception when you arrive. There is also a museum shop and a rat-and-mouse hunt for visitors to do in the tower.

The route to the entrance is a gravel path, followed by stairs. The tower has four floors connected by stairs and no lift. The nearest bus stop, Nyköping bus terminal, is about 700 metres from the entrance; parking by Tovastugan is about 200 metres away. The exhibitions have text in Swedish and English.
