Hälleforsnäs Gjuterimuseum is open today, Saturday, from 11:00 to 15:00. Its listed hours are Thursday and Friday, 10:00 to 16:00, and Saturday, 11:00 to 15:00.

The ironworks was founded in 1659 to cast cannons. It expanded into a modern industrial operation in the 19th century under the Celsing family. Its products later included farm machinery, stoves, cookware, radiators and pipe fittings, as well as components for industry and railways. The site’s buildings include Kolhuset, a coal house built from slag stone in the early 19th century, with a wooden roof structure that spans without internal supports.

A digital guide to the works is available to use on a phone or tablet. It combines historical images and recorded stories about the ironworks, cannon production, the development of an English-style park and a major fire. The walk around the industrial setting is about 1.5 kilometres. The museum’s website also offers a film about Kolhuset, with views of the building and comments from a building conservation specialist and an architect.
