S:t Petri Church stands in the heart of Malmö and has roots reaching back to the 14th century. The parish says people in Malmö have gathered there for more than 700 years. Services are held on weekdays and Sundays, including midday prayer, Mass and music services.
The regular visitor event is the Wednesday lunch concert, held at 12:10 throughout the year. The programme is usually organ music, though other music is sometimes included. The church also has choirs for all ages and holds open rehearsals several times a year, with opportunities to try singing.
The autumn programme includes several events in November. Malmö composer Rolf Martinsson’s new Requiem is due to receive its premiere during the month. The textile exhibition “Women embroider for peace” opens on Sunday, 15 November, and is scheduled to run for one month. In the first week of December, the church’s annual Christmas story is staged with drama and song. This year’s performance is called “The Sheep and the Conceited Donkey.”
The church describes its approach as bringing tradition and renewal together in everyday life and ceremonies. Wikidata lists S:t Petri Church as heritage-listed.
