Växjö konsthall presents contemporary art in Växjö. Its current exhibition, Det stora minnet by Magnus Bärtås, runs from 30 October 2026 to 16 January 2027. The installation uses cut-out details from embroideries bought at flea markets, made over nearly 100 years, to explore collective memory. Its imagery includes botanical-looking fragments, cross-stitch patterns, abstract signs and symbols. Bärtås works with documentary and historical material in installation, film, text and collage.
In Norra rummet, visitors can join an open art lab and help make a large embroidery. The lab is open for as long as the exhibition runs. On 1 December, Bärtås is due to talk with craft and design historian Christina Zetterlund, a lecturer at Linnaeus University; the time has not yet been announced.
The monthly Lördagslabb is for children aged six and up, and the whole family is welcome. The sessions are free. The remaining dates listed for autumn 2026 are 14 November and 5 December.
