Unnaryds Bonadsmuseum is in Unnaryd’s local heritage park in Kronoberg. It presents bonadsmåleri, the southern Swedish tradition of painted panels, and says its collection is the world’s largest of southern Swedish bonad paintings. The museum describes itself as a national hub for the art form and a meeting place for storytelling.
Visitors can see the collection and the museum’s annual themed summer exhibition in the park’s undantagsstuga. The programme includes guided tours, painting and craft courses, school activities, lectures, mini craft activities and concert evenings. The museum also has a digital archive of art from Finnved and Värend. Guided visits of the museum and park can be booked throughout the year.
The published seasonal hours are Saturdays and Sundays, 11:00-17:00 in June; Wednesdays to Sundays, 11:00-17:00 in July; and Saturdays and Sundays, 11:00-17:00 in August. During summer, a guided tour starts at 11:00 on every open Sunday. It is free, and visitors do not need to register in advance.
