Abisko National Park was founded in 1909. Mountains frame Abisko Valley, where alpine meadows flower and rapids run. The valley includes birch woodland, and Njullá is an easily accessible mountain known for its alpine flora. The park contains Scandinavia’s largest mountain lake. Abisko Valley combines birch woodland, flowering meadows, rapids and the lake. Visitors can explore the valley and Njullá. The Kungsleden trail runs through the park, following Abiskojåkka. The river rushes through Abisko Canyon before flowing into a delta in Torneträsk. The trail’s route follows the river through the park, alongside the valley’s mountain scenery. Abisko National Park has one of the most species-rich floras in the Swedish mountains. Lapsk alpros, polarblära and several orchid species grow there. In summer, daylight lasts around the clock and visitors can see the midnight sun. It is the most visited national park in Norrbotten County.
