Astrid Lindgrens Näs is where Astrid Lindgren was born and where her writing began. Visitors can take a guided tour of her preserved childhood home, see the exhibition “Astrid Lindgren and the power of stories”, and experience the gardens around the site.

The exhibition traces Lindgren’s life from her childhood through the years of the Second World War and into current issues. It also looks at her stories and the background to them. Her writing, songs, films and plays feature in the story of how she influenced Sweden during the 20th century, and how her work remains relevant.

The childhood home connects the visit with places from Lindgren’s early life. She climbed the sugar-drinking tree and played with her siblings in the snickerboa, or carpenter’s shed. She jumped in the hay and listened to fairy tales in Kristin’s kitchen. The guided tour gives visitors a way to see the preserved home; the exhibition and gardens offer other parts of the visit. Seasonal exhibitions are also held at the site.
