Kungsparken follows Nya Allén from Stora Teatern at Kungsportsavenyn to Järntorget. The route gives visitors two reference points in central Gothenburg: the theatre and avenue at one end, and the square at the other.

Visit Sweden says the park has some of the city’s most magnificent and impressive trees. Its central position by the water also makes it a popular picnic spot, according to Visit Sweden.

The description points to two ways to spend time here: follow the park beside Nya Allén, or stop for a picnic by the water. The named endpoints help place the park in relation to Stora Teatern, Kungsportsavenyn and Järntorget. Visitors who want to see the trees can make them the focus of a walk, while the waterside setting is the reason Visit Sweden gives for picnicking. The route, trees and waterside picnic setting make the park a place to pass through on foot or pause beside the water in central Gothenburg.
