Göteborgs Dramatiska Teater is an independent professional theatre company founded in 2004, with its theatre in Stigbergsliden. It stages contemporary plays and classics for audiences of all ages. The company says it wants its work to reflect parts of society that often go unseen and to show what happens behind closed doors.

Its productions often portray vulnerable people and people facing difficult circumstances. The company aims to give a voice to people who are overlooked, condemned or marginalised. It also explores power structures and offers new perspectives on the world around us. Those aims shape its choice of material, which includes plays from Sweden and around the world, as well as classic works.

The company is continually seeking new plays and works with playwrights to develop original scripts. Alongside contemporary and new writing, it brings classics to the stage. A visit is an opportunity to see one of these productions at the theatre in Stigbergsliden. The company describes its work as being for all ages, and its programme includes both new plays and classics. Its stated focus on people facing difficult circumstances and on parts of society that often go unseen is central to the work it stages.
