The rooftop pool and terrace are out of season now. Avalon Hotel’s stated opening period for them is May to September, from 10:00 to 18:00, and they are open to all hotel guests during those months.

The 101-room hotel is at Kungstorget 9, close to restaurants, shopping and culture. Nearby attractions include Paddan, The Garden Society and the market hall. Rooms and shared spaces contain selected furniture, design pieces and artworks. Staff can tell guests about the story and origin of particular pieces. The top-floor penthouse suite has access to a sauna and the rooftop pool, which extends beyond the building’s façade. The transparent edge of the pool and the rooftop bar offer views over central Gothenburg.

On the ground floor, the restaurant serves French bistro dishes with Swedish influences. It also has a wine room and cocktail bar, and opens an outdoor terrace in summer. Avalon opened in 2007 and is described as Sweden’s first feng shui-certified hotel. Both the hotel and restaurant carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
