Northvolt bankruptcy worries in Skellefteå
Only hours after Northvolt's bankruptcy on Wednesday, the Korean Dongjin notified all employees in Skellefteå of termination. More are to be expected, fears municipal director Kristina Sundin Jonsson.
Skellefteå after the bankruptcy: "Nightmare message"
The message on Wednesday that the battery manufacturer Northvolt has gone bankrupt is a nightmare message. This says the chairman of the municipal council Lorents Burman (S) at a press conference.
Northvolt buys time – tax debt paid
Crisis-stricken Northvolt has bought itself some breathing room by paying what the company owed to the Tax Agency. However, a long-term solution to the battery manufacturer's financing is still not in place.
The Mission: Getting a Thousand Laid-Off Workers to Stay
After the battery manufacturer Northvolt's massive layoff notice on Monday, the municipality is mobilizing to get those who are laid off to stay. We will do everything we can to try to catch them, says municipal director Kristina Sundin Jonsson.
Governor after the notice: "No green bubble"
The crisis-stricken battery manufacturer Northvolt is laying off 1,000 people in Skellefteå. However, the municipality and region hope that they will stay and seek new jobs in Västerbotten.
The Municipality on Northvolt's Announcement: No Concern
Parts of Northvolt's factory in Skellefteå, with thousands of employees, will shut down. However, the news is nothing that worries the municipality.
