Caregiver suspected of permitting unauthorized driving.
At 18:30, a police patrol observed a youth riding an electric scooter carelessly in traffic. At a subsequent check, it was found that the electric scooter had a motor effect that exceeded the limits that apply for it to be classified as a bicycle and allowed to be driven in public traffic.
The driver, who is under 15 years old, is suspected of unauthorized driving. The guardian is suspected of allowing unauthorized driving and the electric scooter has been seized.
According to the Transport Agency's regulations, an electric scooter can be classified as a bicycle, among other things, if it does not have a higher continuous marked power effect than 250 watts and it may not go faster than 20 km/h. Vehicles that exceed these limits can instead be classified as a moped, which means that, among other things, a driver's license or driving license, traffic insurance and registration are required.
