00:13, Suspected Hazardous Object - Uddevalla

Alarm is received about a suspected hazardous object in a stairwell in central Uddevalla.
Police cordons off an area around the building and urge residents in the relevant stairwell to stay indoors.

After evaluation by the National Bomb Squad, the object is considered acute. It is removed from the scene under controlled conditions. In the morning, a technical examination is conducted on and around the find location. An investigation into attempted gross public destruction is initiated. There is as yet no suspect in the case.

Following the discovery of a live hand grenade in an inner courtyard in Uddevalla on 9 January, three people have now been detained. They are all apprehended on probable grounds suspected of attempted gross public destruction and gross breach of the law on flammable and explosive goods. The investigation is led by a prosecutor and no further information can be given until a possible detention order is submitted to the court
