A woman in Kungsbacka reports to the police that she has been a victim of a scam. The scam is said to have taken place on Thursday evening.

According to the woman, she has then been called by someone who claimed to be from an insurance company. Under the pretence that there is a burglary wave in the area and that her valuable items need to be "protected", the woman is forced to hand over items such as jewelry and a bank card to a person who – during the course of the conversation – comes to her home.

The police were on site on Friday for information gathering and have filed a report on fraud. There is as yet no estimated value of what the scammers have obtained or any suspect in the case.

The method follows the same pattern as in several similar cases in the region in recent times, mainly targeting the elderly. The police therefore urge increased vigilance regarding the problem – for example, neighbours and home care staff have made important observations in similar cases.
