Scammers continue with the same approach.

In recent times, there have been a number of cases in Norrköping and its surroundings where scammers have posed as landlords or property managers and wanted to exchange smoke detectors.

On Thursday, this happened again in Hageby where an elderly man was targeted.

The scammer talked about smoke detectors and wanted to be paid 25 kronor for the exchange, and then when the man was going to pay with a card, the scammer took the card and left the scene. It is unclear if any money has been lost.

This is exactly the same approach as in a number of other cases in recent times, and the police want to issue a sharp warning to never let strangers into the home. If someone poses as the landlord, check the identity before letting them in. If you suspect something is wrong - call the police on 112.

Talk to your elderly relatives or friends about this, and how common scams are.
